Sport as Global Entertainment

The SSTO's International Research Institute for Sport Studies is hosting a seminar entitled 'Sport as Global Entertainment'.

Guest speaker Professor Chris Gratton (left) from Sheffield Hallam University will look at the transition of sport from a localised activity in pre-1960s, to the globalised commercial market we see today.

The presentation will analyse the implications of these developments for sport. Chris is Professor of Sport Economics and Co-director of the Sport Industry Research Centre at Sheffield, and is the UK representative on the EU Workshop on Sport and Economics. He is also chair of Sport England's Active People Expert Advisory Group.

The event takes place on Wednesday 23 October, Greenbank Building GR273, Preston from 3-5pm.
